Since my six-year stay abroad in East Africa, I have been dealing a lot with development policy issues. At Heartbeats, I have found an environment that has the same approaches and questions and offers space to reflect and analyse. I think it's important to critically scrutinise development cooperation while still supporting projects.

I enjoy dealing with national and international issues and would like to gain more knowledge about development policy. As a member of the Board of Directors, I would like to get involved in development policy issues, gain new perspectives and contribute to a tolerant and cosmopolitan society. Through Heartbeats, we can help to improve the living conditions of local people and help them to help themselves.

I question (sustainable) "development cooperation" in general and would like to focus more on "more sustainable" solutions, my privileges, indigenous approaches, my own whiteness and my 'raison d'être' as a white woman from the Global North in "development cooperation". For this, Heartbeats offers me a place and a lovely community in which we can reflect, analyse and question together. I find cultivating international partnerships and organising intercultural projects very enriching!

I have been very interested in international topics since several stays abroad in the context of voluntary service and various internships. Seeing the world through a post-colonial lens and engaging with today's colonial continuities is very important to me. I am currently interested in topics such as gender, queerness and climate. In the Heartbeats education group, I was already able to discuss my thoughts and impulses for this world in a community environment and set them free with actions. The opportunity to tackle international projects on the Heartbeats board, to experience inspiring moments and also to support other people in this world in giving important impulses to this world, gives me a lot of pleasure!

Since my voluntary service in Côte d'Ivoire, I have been very enthusiastic about development policy issues between the Global South and North. I want to make a contribution to ensuring that we live together in our society in peace, tolerance and solidarity on an equal footing. In the association, I can network with partners, exchange ideas and promote development policy projects. Heartbeats offers numerous opportunities to provide food for thought and change other people's perspectives.
